Barcamp Orlando 07

So Barcamp Orlando came around and I thought I did my part, I sponsored and I brought the whiteboards (that would not erase). I also watched almost every single presentation by standing in the doorway of both rooms the entire day.
One of the most memorable presentations was a talk on co-working by Alex Rudloff who mentioned that he tried to take his idea to the Chamber and they did not listen. This offended me a little, so I spoke up and told him how I was involved in my business community, that I was a member of business lead group’s, Leadership Seminole and the Seminole County Chamber of Commerce. I went on to explain that these entities are made up of people just like him and it is not that they are not listening, it is that people approach organizations everyday that do not belong to those organizations seeking help when they have not gone as far as getting organized themselves. I told him that he would have to get organized and become a fellow member of the business community; they then would help him with his ideas and concepts.
Immediately after his presentation Alex and I spoke feverishly about co-working. I also told him of my idea of some type of organization that could offer that and more. We were joined by others and took the conversation through all types of discussions of various tech passions. But once again in retrospect and I was pushing people for wanting more than just co-working. My mistake Alex, I apologize.
While in the side room I ran into Joshua Hoskins who I discovered was a tech for OrlandoJobs.com. I talked about a site that I am still building that could use an RSS feed for specific jobs. He graciously offered to custom code any feeds that I may need, I just need to tell him which ones. I haven’t gotten that far yet, I will get to it Joshua.
Later in the evening I was back at giving an earful to the same tech leaders about my something greater speech. I thought maybe it is Refresh Orlando and I was back with Mikeg talking about how interested I was and lets talk some more. But other things came up and I never got around to it. This is where I again give my second apology to Mikeg. Sorry man, I never got to it.
